Event #9 in PokerStars first ever USA COOP saw 425 players fight it out on Saturday. When the smoke cleared, the last man standing was MTT specialist Luke “Tobia$ Bluth” Nettles.
Like many of PokerStars USA COOP events, in Event #9, $215 re-buy $300K Guaranteed, entrants got a chance to go up against some of the top pros in the game, including Team PokerStars members Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein, and Dwayne Phillips.
Nettles proved he’s one of the best by hanging tough throughout the hotly contested 13 hour tournament. With 21 players remaining Nettles came up big preflop. With blinds at $2500/$5000, Nettles with 404,521, called a 219K preflop shove. His AA held up against AK suited, taking his stack to over 620K chips. From there Nettles got aggressive with his chip stack and didn’t let up until the battle was won.
For his effort Nettles takes home $57,570, which puts his lifetimes winnings above $1.5 Million! This win ranks as Nettle’s third all-time cash prize behind $146,929 for 3rd in FTOPS #22 in August, and $87,400 for 1st in the PokerStars Sunday 500K in October.
The inaugural USA Championship of Online Poker (USACOOP) tournament series continued on Friday, November 26th with Event 7, a $300+20 No Limit Hold’em 6-max event. While most people were eating Thanksgiving leftovers or bargain shopping on Black Friday, some competitors decided to work off Thanksgiving dinner calories on the virtual felt.
In total, 655 people decided to battle it out in the tournament. PokerStars guaranteed a prize pool of $300,000, though, meaning there was a huge overlay of over $100,000! The tournament also promised $50 to any player who managed to eliminate a member of Team PokerStars.
Six members of Team PokerStars competed in the event, including three time WSOP bracelet winner, Barry “barryg1″ Greenstein, 2004 WSOP Main Event runner up David “dwilliams” Williams, 2004 WSOP Main Event Champ 먹튀검증 Greg Raymer, Victor Ramdin, Chad Brown and George “jorj95″ Lind III. The pros did not fair too well, with the exception of David Williams. He was the only member of Team PokerStars to cash in the tournament, finishing 37th for $1380.
The night belonged to Joe “JoeJ1337″ Janeski. Despite making a deal three-handed, JoeyJ1337 still took home an impressive $50,884.45. The win was the biggest of Janeski’s online career, increasing his lifetime tournament winnings to $131,404. Sounds like Christmas came early for Janeski!
